What is an RFQ with Cutr?

A Request for Quote (RFQ) with Cutr allows select partners from our network of production partners to submit a bid or quote for a project. Whilst typically Cutr would prepare the offer for a manufacturer to accept, an RFQ asks the production partner to submit their best price to win the project.

When do we use the RFQ process?

For larger construction style projects, complex projects or projects requiring multiple consultants who work outside of the wood industry, an RFQ will likely be implemented.

How do I know if I have been sent an RFQ?

You will receive an email with the RFQ details. RFQs are also visible under the RFQ tab on your home dashboard.

How do I view the project details so I can create my quote?

How do I submit my Quote?

To submit a quote for the project, simply reply to the email that you received inviting you to participate in the RFQ. Otherwise you can find the email in the respective RFQ as shown in the picture below.

Do I have to submit an RFQ if invited?

No. The RFQ process is optional. You can 'Decline RFQ' on the top right of the order view.

How will I know if I have won the project?

At the conclusion of the RFQ period, Cutr will present quotes back to the customer for consideration. Cutr will communicate with you about the status of the RFQ during this period.

If your quote is accepted, the order will be dispatched to you as normal. You will see an available order which you can accept on your Cutr order dashboard under the order tab.

RFQ definition of terms

An RFQ will ask you to submit your best price or lead-time for a project based on certain criteria.

  • Optimise for Price or Lead-time. This tells you whether price or timeline are more important for the customer. If they have indicated 'Lead-time', then they're likely to make their decision based on a shorter production timeline.

  • Price ceiling. This is the maximum price that the customer has allocated for this project. This should help you to determine whether you should invest time in quoting this project or not.

  • Production Start. This is the date that the customer would like this order to move into production. It is indicative of how quickly they are likely to make a decision on the outcome of the RFQ process, and therefore how quickly you could expect to start work.

  • # Partners interested. This number tells you how many other production partners with Cutr are interested in this order.

If you have feedback about the process or would like to suggest some improvements, we would love to hear them! Please reach out by emailing us at support@cutr.ai
