There are a lot of steps involved going from an idea or first drawing to parts that can be CNC milled. Cutr offers 3 design services for you to get your project into a 3D drawing that is ready for production. You can read here what is needed for a file to be production ready. Below you can read more about our design services and which design service would be applicable for your project.

Design help

Description

Do you have an idea but you don’t know how to draw and engineer it in 2D or 3D? Cutr’s designers are there to help you out.

What do we need from you?

  • PDF drawing with dimensions, or

  • Pictures with dimensions, or

  • Textual description with dimension, or

  • 2D/3D drawing not ready to produce yet

What will we provide you?

  • 3D STEP file ready for CNC production

  • Free quote for production

  • 2D technical drawing (if requested)

Timeline and process

What does our design help process exactly look like? Read the steps below.

  1. Request our design help here and provide your files and additional information

  2. Cutr will prepare a quote for the hours required to create a 3D design that is ready for production

  3. Accept the ‘design help’ quote on the Cutr platform

  4. See your drawing delivery date on the order in your Cutr account

  5. Check your 3D drawing on the platform and sign-off for production

  6. Receive a ‘production quote’ on the platform

Pricing

Based on your project, Cutr will estimate the amount of hours our designers will work on building a 3D model ready for production.

  • Hourly rate: €50

Engineering help

Description

Do you have a 2D or 3D drawing of your project, but are you still missing details for assembling or is it not optimized for CNC machining? We can help you engineer your project so it’s ready for production!

What do we need from you?

  • 2D file (dwg/dxf) with dimensions, or

  • 3D file (STEP/SketchUp) with dimensions, or

  • Description of preferred way of assembling (connections, assembling materials etc.)

What will we provide you?

  • Free production quote including design engineering hours

  • 3D STEP file ready for production

  • 2D technical drawing (if requested)

  • Your parts CNC’d

Timeline and process

What does our engineering help process exactly look like? Read the steps below.

  1. Request a quote on the Cutr platform via this link and enable the ‘I need design help’ button

  2. Cutr will prepare a production quote including the hours needed for making a 3D file of your design that is ready for production

  3. Accept the production quote including design engineering hours

  4. See your drawing delivery date on the order in your Cutr account

  5. Check your 3D drawing on the platform and sign off for production

  6. Your production quote might need to be revised due to fluctuation in material prices

  7. See your project delivery date on the order in your Cutr account

  8. Receive your CNC’d project!

Pricing

Based on your project, Cutr will estimate the amount of design engineering hours our designers will work on making your drawing ready for production and add it to your ‘production quote’.

  • Hourly rate: €50

If 7 days have past after publishing the 3D production drawing and there has been no feedback or sign off by the customer, we might need to requote due to the fluctuation of material prices.

Optimization advice

Description

Do you have a 2D or 3D drawing ready for production, but do you want advice on how to optimize your design? Cutr also offers optimization consultancy.

What do we need from you?

  • Detailed 2D (dxf, dwg) file, or

  • Detailed 3D (STEP, SketchUp) file

What will we provide you?

  • Advice on price optimization

  • Advice on material/nesting optimization

  • Advice on design optimization

Timeline and process

What does our optimization advice process exactly look like? Read the steps below.

  1. Upload your file on the platform and request a quote. You can already request optimization advice in the ‘Notes’ section!

  2. Cutr will reach out to you or if you didn’t request advice in ‘Notes’ you can book a timeslot in the agenda of one of our designers via this link.

  3. Once the meeting is confirmed, you will receive a quote on the platform for design advice hours within 30 minutes.

  4. Accept this quote on the platform 24 hours before the meeting. The invoice needs to be paid within 30 days.

Pricing

  • First 0,5 hour for free with one of our designers

  • After 0,5 hour: €50/hour
