Quality Guidelines

When accepting an offer on the Cutr platform, you’re agreeing to provide the manufacturing and related services as indicated on the order, adhering to Cutr’s quality guidelines as defined below.

When reviewing an Offer on Cutr, be sure to:

  • Carefully review all line items in the Offer and order details paying particular attention to materials, finishes, requested deadline, and services required such as installation or engineering

  • Check that you have the right machinery and manufacturing capabilities to meet the requirements of the order

  • Ask any order specific questions during Offer Dispatch or early in the production process to avoid any preventable delays or costly quality issues.

To ensure a successful delivery, the order must be produced in accordance with the requested:

Materials:

  • These must be suitable for the intended purpose (e.g., water-resistant materials when specified) and be accurate in:

    • Color

    • Finish

    • Brand (if specified)

    • Grain direction (if specified)

  • Upon receiving materials from the supplier, the production partner must inspect them for quality, ensuring no defects

  • When producing parts, the material should be positioned correctly (when e.g. one side with better visible quality)

Design:

  • Correct dimensions, edge specifications, and radius measurements.

  • Accuracy of holes/cutouts/grooves depth and placement (e.g., holes should align when delivering flatpack). Avoid unnecessary holes and ensure correct depth and width.

  • Tolerance of 0.5 mm unless otherwise specified in the offer.

  • Check the degree of cuts (e.g. with chamfers) to ensure they meet the required specifications.

  • Flag any potential bending issues before proceeding (e.g. when too much milling needs to happen on one side of the part)

Production Drawings:

  • Production drawings must be provided for approval before production can start, unless indicated otherwise.

  • Production drawings should be provided as specified in our Requirements for Submitting Production Drawings.

  • You must take into account the approval process in your planning to ensure timelines are met.

Finishes:

  • When required, the order must be produced with an accurate finish.

    • Sanding: correct level of sanding (indicated on the order).

    • Varnishing / oiling / lacquering: correctly applied, fully dried, correct varnish material, correct number of layers as per specification or otherwise indicated.

    • Painting: correct colour, finish, number of coats and brand, if specified.

  • Test the finish on a sample before applying it to the entire product to ensure colour accuracy. When in doubt, upload a sample photo to the platform or send a physical sample for customer approval.

Edge Banding:

  • The correct edge banding thickness should be applied to the requested sides.

  • Ensure edge band grain direction (long or cross, or both) is correct.

  • The edge band should adhere properly and not come off; this must be verified before shipping.

  • If indicated, the correct glue colour should be applied.

  • Banding should be continuous without visible seams or joins.

  • Whenever possible, edgebanding should be applied with high quality machinery to ensure high durability.

Hardware Specifications:

  • All hardware must be included and installed as per the order requirements.

  • The hardware must match the exact brand, product number, and specifications when specified.

  • Deliver the right amount of hardware supplies.

  • All hardware components should align correctly with corresponding parts (e.g., holes for screws, bolts).

  • When hardware is delivered as loose items, best practice is to include some excess to cover for any defective parts e.g. extra dowels for assembly

Assembly:

  • Assembly method (if specified) should be used. If this is not reasonably possible, you may propose an alternative method for approval.

  • When applicable, the order is assembled such that all operable parts are functioning as intended.

  • Parts should fit together without damage and without gaps between parts; they should align nicely.

  • All parts should be securely fastened such that they do not come loose during transport or using of the product. Adequate glue and / or necessary fastening methods should be used or proposed if not indicated.

Installation:

  • The production partner is responsible for ensuring accurate measurements are taken during the measure-up process.

  • The order must be designed for seamless installation in the intended environment (e.g., ensuring a cabinet fits through a hallway).

  • Installation timelines must be aligned on between all parties to ensure adequate site access for an efficient installation.

Quantity:

  • Within the agreed lead time, unless otherwise aligned previously with Cutr.

  • Any delay on an order (e.g., material delays causing production delays, 3rd party delays such as painting services) must be communicated promptly..

Lead Times:

  • Within the agreed lead time, unless otherwise aligned previously with Cutr.

  • Any delay on an order (e.g., material delays causing production delays, 3rd party delays such as painting services) must be communicated promptly.

Fulfilment:

  • Delivered to the requested address within the indicated available time windows.

  • Pay attention to the Delivery conditions on the order - especially any notes around unloading requirements such as 'no forklift available' or ' no parking on premises'

  • If using a 3rd party delivery partner, make sure you upload the track and trace in the ‘delivery schedule notes’ section.

  • It's critical that photos are shared on the Cutr app prior to packaging for transport, and prior to delivery. This documentation ensures any claims for damage caused during transport or unloading can be processed efficiently.

  • Refer to our Packaging Guidelines for proper packaging prior to delivery.

Damages:

  • No scratches, dents, nor other defects to the parts, surfaces, edges, or finish. Check the order thoroughly before shipping.

  • No chipping of edges.

  • No extra holes in parts without purpose.

  • Secure transport: the production partner is responsible for no damages during transportation.

Cleaning:

  • No glue residues (e.g., when edge banded or when parts glued together). Clean up any excessive glue and ensure dry prior to delivery.

  • Remove all dust and wipe down the parts prior to packaging.

  • Remove any pencil marks or masking tape from parts before packaging.

  • The product should arrive clean.

Packaging:

  • Please find our packaging guidelines here.

Sample Approval:

  • When requested, provide samples for approval before full production.

  • Ensure that the samples meet all specified requirements and quality standards.

Communication:

  • Maintain clear and timely communication with Cutr regarding the status of the order, any potential issues, and updates.

  • Promptly address any queries or concerns raised by Cutr.
