Production Drawing Approval is a necessary milestone that needs to be completed to ensure alignment between all parties prior to starting production. This help center article outlines the detailed requirements for production drawings and provides guidance on how to submit them for customer approval.

Requirements for Production Drawings

To comply with Cutr’s quality standards, your drawing must include the following details at minimum:

  1. Clear and Detailed Illustration

    • Depict a 3D object in 2D from multiple angles—front, back, top, bottom, left, right—using third-angle projection standards (American Projection) to illustrate all components and layouts.

  2. Dimensional Information

    • All critical components of the product must be measured and clearly labeled, including length, width, height, thickness, and any other relevant dimensions.

  3. Material Specifications

    • Clearly indicate per part/group:

      • Material thickness

      • Type of materials (e.g. melamine, HPL, etc.)

      • Material brand

      • Material finish (e.g. glossy, etc.)

  4. Geometric Tolerances

    • Specify the allowable limits of variation for each critical dimension to ensure proper fit and function.

  5. Hardware and Accessories

    • Detail any additional components like hinges, handles, or decorative elements including size, brand, article codes and placement.

  6. Grain Direction of Parts

    • Where applicable, indicate the direction of the grain on wood parts, crucial for material integrity and aesthetics.

  7. Joinery Details

    • Provide detailed drawings or diagrams showing joinery methods used, including types of joints and their placements.

  8. Notes and Annotations

    • Include any special instructions, requirements, or considerations for manufacturing and assembly.

  9. Scaling Information

    • Clearly state the scale of the drawing.

  10. Edgebanding Specifications

    • Please specify which sides of the components need edgebanding, indicating if it should be applied to visible sides only or to hidden sides as well. Additionally, include the edgeband specifications and thickness.

  11. Depth of Pockets

    • Where applicable, provide depth measurements for any pockets or recesses.

  12. Finishing Reconfirmation

    • Reconfirm the exact finish type (e.g. paint, varnish) so there is no discrepancy between the order and the production requirements.

Submission Process

Follow these steps to upload and submit your production drawings for customer approval:

  1. Upload Drawings

    • Go to the “Production Files” section of our platform and upload your completed production drawings.

  2. Customer Notification

    • Once uploaded, the customer will automatically be notified that they have drawings ready for approval.

  3. Review and Approval

    • The customer will review the drawings and can either approve them or provide feedback directly on the platform. This feedback might include requests for changes or additional details needed. Note that customers sometimes approve with notes or conditions. Therefore, ensure the approval notes are always read and addressed.
