Applying materials to your parts is an important step towards bringing your designs to life. In this article, we will explain to you step by step how to do it.

Step-by-Step Process:

  1. Access Materials: Go to the Materials tab on the left side of your screen.

  2. View Part Thicknesses: If you've uploaded a 3D file, you'll see all parts with their thicknesses.

  3. Select Parts for Material Assignment: You can select parts either by filtering on thicknesses, files or material or directly in the 3D viewer.

  4. Assign Material: Click on 'Assign material' in the top left (yellow button).

  5. Choose Material Type:

    • For decorative options like HPL, melamine, or veneer with a core material, start by selecting a 'Decorative' material (in the bottom)

    • After selecting a material, further refine your choice (e.g., specific wood type, color).

  6. Search for Specific Materials: If you have a particular material in mind from a common material supplier (like Blok Plaatmateriaal, Baars&Bloemhoff etc.), use the search bar to find it quickly.

  7. Request Suggestions: Uncertain about your material choice? Click on 'Request suggestions' for assistance.

  8. Edge Banding Option: After selecting a material, the system will ask if you want to add edge banding, if applicable.

  9. Save Material Card: Once satisfied with your selection, save the material card.

  10. Reuse Material Card: To apply the same material to other parts, select the parts and use the 'Apply to parts' button on the material card.

  11. Sanding and Finishing:

    • If needed, add sanding and finishing by clicking on the ‘Add sanding and finishing’ button on the material card.

    • Choose a finish type, and note that sanding is usually required before finishing.

  12. Specify Finish Preferences: Enter any specific finish type or brand you prefer in the notes field.

  13. Completion: Ensure all parts have materials assigned. You can see if this is the case on the right top. Once done, you're all set!
