Introduction
Sometimes during production, things change, whether it's extra work, different materials, or unexpected costs. With Cost Change Requests, you can now propose cost changes directly in the Cutr platform, keeping everything clear and aligned with the customer.
How does it work?
Follow these simple steps to submit a cost change request:
Go to the order page where the cost needs to be adjusted.
Navigate to the "Offers" tab.
navigate to “Change Requests” and then click on "New Change Request".
Fill in the details:
Reason for change (e.g. material change, design update, more hours needed)
Itemized breakdown of costs (you can add hours, materials, transport, etc.)
Urgency level – if approval is blocking production, mark it as urgent.
Click “Submit request” to send it for internal review.
Once reviewed, the customer will be notified to approve or decline the request.
What you need to know
Before creating a change request, keep the following in mind:
Be as clear as possible.
A short, clear reason and cost breakdown helps speed up approval.
Use urgency only when needed.
Mark as urgent if you can’t proceed without approval — this triggers a 2-day deadline for response.
Changes are reviewed by Cutr before reaching the customer.
This ensures quality and alignment.
Once approved, changes are automatically added to a new offer.
You don’t need to do anything else.
See how it works in the video below:
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)
1. When should I use a Change Request?
Use a Change Request when there's an unexpected change after the offer has been accepted — for example, additional design work, material changes, or extra hours needed.
2. Can I edit a Change Request after submitting it?
No, once a Change Request is submitted, it cannot be edited. If something changes, you can cancel it and create a new one or duplicate a previous request to save time.
3. What happens after I submit a request?
The Cutr team reviews your request first. If everything is in order, we forward it to the customer for approval. You’ll be notified once the customer accepts or declines.
4. How long does it take for a Change Request to be approved?
If marked as urgent, customers have 2 working days to respond. Non-urgent requests have a default deadline of 5 working days.
5. Can I submit multiple Change Requests on the same project?
Yes, you can submit multiple requests if needed. Each request will be reviewed separately.
6. What if the customer declines my request?
The declined request will be archived. You can still duplicate it to modify and submit again if needed.
7. Is there a limit on the type or size of changes I can request?
There’s no hard limit, but we recommend using Change Requests for simple adjustments. For major scope changes, contact the Cutr Ops team for guidance.
8. Where do approved changes appear?
Once accepted, the changes are automatically added as a separate section in the new offer. No need to update pricing manually.
9. Can I save a Change Request as a draft?
Yes, you can. You can start a Change Request, save it as a draft, and return to it whenever you're ready. You're also able to save multiple drafts without sending them. Nothing is shared with the customer until you submit.
